Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is Project Pet?

Project Pet is an Oakland-based social enterprise that integrates animal welfare, mental health, and community care. We use the human–animal bond as a tool to improve health outcomes, build trust, and reduce barriers to care—especially in communities that have historically been underserved.

2. What makes Project Pet different from a traditional nonprofit or pet brand?

We don’t separate people from systems—or animals from health. Project Pet operates at the intersection of public health, animal care, and lived experience, working alongside local government, community partners, and residents to deliver real-world impact. Our work is practical, culturally grounded, and already in motion.

3. Who does Project Pet serve?

We primarily serve ethnic, low-income, and system-impacted pet parents, including people experiencing housing instability, behavioral health challenges, or gaps in access to veterinary care and social services.

4. How is Project Pet funded?

Project Pet is supported through a mix of:

  • Government contracts
  • Grants and philanthropic partnerships
  • Community support
  • Limited, mission-aligned merchandise initiatives

Each revenue stream directly supports programs already operating in the community.

5. What is the Project Pet Founders Series?

The Founders Series honors the earliest chapter of Project Pet—when the work was driven by belief, responsibility, and lived experience, long before recognition followed.

These pieces feature the original Project Pet logo, now officially retired, and mark the transition from belief to infrastructure.

6. Are Founders Series items for sale?

No. Founders Series items are not sold as merchandise. They are offered in recognition of meaningful financial support for Project Pet’s work.

Each item includes a Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its place in Project Pet’s history and its one-time release status.

7. Will the Founders Series be reproduced?

No.

  • The original logo is retired
  • The Founders Series is a one-time release
  • Once distributed, these pieces will never be remade

This is intentional.

8. How do proceeds from the Founders Series support impact?

Proceeds directly support Project Pet initiatives that integrate:

  • Animal welfare
  • Mental and behavioral health
  • Community-based outreach and care

This funding strengthens programs that are already delivering outcomes—scaling what works rather than starting from scratch.

9. What is Project Pet’s current goal?

Project Pet is raising $1,000,000 by July 4, 2026 to strengthen operations, teams, and programs already in motion. This goal reflects growth—not speculation.

10. Do you ship products?

Yes. For limited and archived items, orders ship within 30 days of purchase.

11. What is your return or replacement policy?

Due to the limited and archival nature of certain items, all sales are final. If an item arrives damaged or is lost in transit, please contact us at hello@projectpet.org so we can assist.

12. How can I support Project Pet?

You can support Project Pet by:

  • Making a financial contribution
  • Participating in Founders Series support tiers
  • Partnering with us as an organization or institution
  • Amplifying our work within your networks

Support is not passive—it’s participatory.
